Karen L. Hruby, PhD, is a past-president of the Community Indicators Consortium. She acts as the management firm / director of data & research (past executive director) for Truckee Meadows Tomorrow (TMT), known for its grassroots approach to quality of life measurement and improvement in northwestern Nevada. TMT received the first Community Indicators Consortium Innovation Award in 2005, for effectiveness in using community indicator data to generate positive change. She is also a strategic planning and management consultant providing research, governance, and results improvement for organizations undergoing change. Prior to establishing her consulting firm in 1994, she held executive-level positions in the utility industry and was on the faculty of the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has a PhD in Economic Education/Consumer Economics from Ohio University. She and her husband enjoy backpacking and bicycling around the world to enjoy local culture, along with regional wine and food specialties.
