IPUMS (
www.ipums.org) provides census and survey data from around the world, integrated across time and space. IPUMS integration and documentation makes it easy to study change, conduct comparative research, merge information across data types, and analyze individuals within family and community context. Supported by NSF, NIH, and Gates Foundation, IPUMS includes harmonized data from:
- Demographic and Health Surveys from the 1980s forward for Africa and Asia (IPUMS-DHS)
- Performance Monitoring and Accountability 2020 surveys on family planning and hygiene from 10 countries (IPUMS PMA)
- Census microdata samples from 89 countries, from the 1960s to the present (IPUMS-International)
- Time use surveys from multiple countries, including information on health behaviors (IPUMS Time Use)
- U.S. data from the National Health Interview Survey (1962 forward) and Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (1996 forward) (IPUMS Health Surveys)
IPUMS data and services are available for free for nonprofit use.
